Corey Lynch ('03)
Corey Lynch is one of the best small school prospects in college football today. He is a soon to be graduating senior at Appalachian State, Boone NC. Sport commentators have called him the best free safety in the D-1 Championship series and rank him among the best in all of college football. He has helped lead the small college to it's third National Championship in a row. His team has not lost a home game when he was on the field.
Lynch has been among the best at every level he has played. While at ECS, he was named best defensive player in SW Florida. He is a three time All American and is being considered an early round choice in the upcoming professional draft. Corey garnered national attention this year when his interception of a field goal attempt during the closing minutes of the University of Michigan game stopped the mighty team from beating Appalachian State.
Corey has consistently led the league in interceptions and tackles. No greater compliment can be made than when another coach talks about game planning to keep from passing towards Lynch's side of the field. A coach from the Citadel said it best, “Hours are spent trying to know where Lynch is on the field.” He was recently drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals.
He is no slouch in the class room either with a double major in Physics and a solid 3.0 GPA. Lynch has garnered a reputation as a well-respected spiritual leader on campus, running weekly Bible Studies for the football team since his freshman year. He has even won the “Seal of Approval” from no less than Rev. Billy Graham as he married the evangelist's granddaughter, Cissy, in Boone, NC this past December.

Justin Johns(’06)
Justin is currently a sophomore at Covenant College on Lookout Mountain, Georgia. He is double majoring in Physics and Music Composition. His full-length composition, Mass for the Brokenhearted was performed at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga this past February as a part of the Southeastern Composers League Annual Forum. Justin had the distinguished honor of being the only student presenting a piece at the forum. In addition the “Gloria” movement of the mass was also recently performed by the ECS Masterpiece Chorale at their Spring Concert.
A long time stand out in choir , Justin was an audience favorite for his performance in Beauty and the Beast his senior year He played Luminere, the butler turned candlestick. Justin was best known, not for the Fine Arts, but for his academic and particularly his scientific accomplishments. He has won almost all of the local and state science fairs he has entered. He has gone so far as to participate in the International Science Fair.
Obviously, a young man with many talents, Justin is destined for greatness, no matter which path he chooses, whether it be the Arts or the Sciences.
