  • ECS Middle School Gives to Those in Need
  • 12/31/2008
  • On December 5, 180 seventh and eight grade students from Evangelical Christian School went shopping for needy families in the community. The students purchased gifts for 38 people using the $4,000 that they had raised since the beginning of the school year. Students were divided into chaperoned teams with the 7th grade shopping at Walmart while the eight grade and their chaperones went gift buying at Target. At the end of the shopping time, several of the teams were given $20.00 bills to pass out to unsuspecting customers and staff at the stores enabling students to share their testimony of the love of Jesus as the real meaning of Christmas. After the morning of shopping was completed, the students enjoyed their second annual Christmas picnic which was organized by the Middle School Senate. Ten six foot subs from Subway were served as the center attraction of the picnic. Mr. Kieffer and Miss Cassidy were caught eying the sandwich along with several hungry students. Students enjoyed lots of games with their classmates as well as bike riding and the train at Lakes Park. While students enjoyed playing at the park, many students and parents, who so graciously volunteered to help with this event, wrapped the Christmas presents that were purchased during the morning shopping trip.

  • Evangelical Christian Video Production students win Lee County video contest.
  • 10/30/2008
  • Evangelical Christian School was one of three schools selected as a finalist for the Public Service Announcement video contest presented by Lee County Coalition for a Drug-Free Southwest Florida. At the 19th annual Red Ribbon Community Celebration Luncheon held October 26 at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theater, ECS's Video Production students, along with their teacher, Mrs. Janet Blankenship, were ecstatic to receive first place with their video titled, "We Choose Not to Drink." The two other finalists were Cape Coral High and Cypress Lake High. This first place honor was especially thrilling for the ECS Video Production students since this was the first semester that the school has offered a video production class, and it was their first time to submit a video for a contest. You can view the video on the ECS website at www.goecs.org. The students have had a busy, yet exciting semester so far, learning proper video techniques and learning to use the Avid video editing software.
