Dr. Douglas Dunn, and Mrs. Elsie Dunn

Dr. Douglas Dunn, and Mrs. Elsie Dunn ~ As a teacher and guidance counselor for thirteen years in secular school, Dr. Dunn knew first hand the educational plight that awaited his five year old daughter. Being deeply troubled by the humanistic philosophy she would be taught in the secular system, he earnestly entreated God to show him a better way for her education. Seeing the sincerity of his heart, God answered his prayer in a startling way. He said, "start a Christian school." After various excuses, much prayer and many tears, he told God he would do as the Lord had asked. In May 1973, just a few short weeks later, with the faithful labor of several like-minded parents, ECS was born. Teachers, staff, curriculum, and textbooks were prepared for Kindergarten Five though grade six. Four months later, in the educational department of a leased church in downtown Fort Myers, the doors of the newly born ECS were opened with seventy students enrolled. The second year, with the addition of Four Year Old Kindergarten and grades seven through twelve, the student body grew to three hundred and thirty-five. In 1975 the school was moved to its present site, a beautiful, tree-lined, twenty-two acre tract of land in south Fort Myers. The second year on the new property, the Preschool Division was added, making ECS a full service school for children eight weeks though grade twelve. Over the years, the enrollment has grown and many new buildings have been added.
